The Musée des Arts décoratifs (MAD) is a 10-minute walk from the Relais du Louvre and worth a visit if decoration is your thing. The Museum is housed in the Marsan wing of the Louvre Palace. Its collections include 150,000 objects, 6,000 of which are shown to the public on a 9,000 m² gallery, a third of which is reserved for temporary exhibitions.
The permanent exhibition displays collections of jewelry, toys, wallpapers, ceramics and glassware, fashion products, advertising and graphic design.
Since last fall, a new showcase for collections, dating from 1940 to today, has been culminated to provide the keys of understanding how this object fits in our day-to-day or in our dreamed reality. The scenography has been reworked to place the object at the center of the subject. The windows overlooking the rue de Rivoli and the Tuileries Garden have been cleared allowing natural light to participate in the creation’s lighting with a beautiful view of Paris.
This is the first retrospective in France of Italian Architect and Designer Gio Ponti (1891 – 1979). Although little known in France, Gio Ponti is considered one of the most creative designers in the 50s and 60s. The style of this decade is in vogue, this exhibition will allow you to enrich your cultural inventory while offering a beautiful scenography by Architect Jean Michel Wilmotte whose last remarkable work is the renovation of the Hotel Lutetia.

You can’t skip the museum’s restaurant which is of unique elegance with the most beautiful terrace in Paris. The season of beauty is arriving, so you must not miss this place if you enjoy sun and architecture. The restaurant decoration is signed by Joseph Dirand who among other works, performed Monsieur Bleu (the magnificent restaurant of the Palais de Tokyo, a must-visit place for lovers of alternative contemporary art).
What about the restaurant? More beautiful than good but still … The restaurant stands out from the majority of museum restaurants. Chef Benoit Dargère and Gilles Malafosse offer a menu of southern dishes from Italy and the French Riviera, as well as some classic favorites. All products are of great quality and the creations are immaculately put together. Starters between € 15 and 25, dishes between € 19 and 30, and desserts between € 13 and 20.
