Where to find a gastronomic restaurant at affordable prices?

Turn onto the charming Rue des Petits Champs and stop once you get to the Palais Royal. The Macéo R et B restaurant (also known as “Le Macéo”) is located at number 15 on this street.

It was once known as Le Mercure Galant, a historic restaurant just across the street from the less well-known destination, Le Grand Véfour.

Set behind a beautiful, traditional Art Nouveau façade with rooms dating back to the Second Empire, including molding and oak paneling, elegantly set tables with linens, refined porcelain and crystalware, Louis Philippe cane chairs, Louis XVI medallion chairs, and more…. An elegant decor and carefully laid tables await you at Le Macéo – it’s the perfect way to start an unforgettable meal.

Every season the chef overhauls the menu with fresh, seasonal produce.

For lunch, a fixed-price menu including a starter and main dish or main dish plus dessert is available for €30. In the evening and on the weekend, Le Macéo offers a starter, main dish and dessert for €40.

The chef has also prepared some delightful vegetarian options, including a dish featuring green asparagus from the Gard department prepared several different ways with a truffle vinaigrette, cream of potato soup with baby leeks, risotto with heritage vegetables and Champagne vinegar, and spaetzle with clementines, preserved fennel and a tarragon butter froth.

The plates are elegantly garnished, portion sizes are just right and the servers are especially pleasant, warm and professional.  If you enjoy French gastronomy at affordable prices in a lovely setting, you won’t be disappointed.

Finally, before you leave, don’t forget to have a look at the ballroom on the first floor, which is classified as a French historical monument.
