Les Artizans is all about generous, well-interpreted, unpretentious artisanal market cuisine. The business was born from the meeting of a pastry chef, Mathieu Mandard (Georges V, Café Pouchkine), and a chef, Patrick Canal (La Tour d’Argent, Le Bristol, Maison Prunier). Here we have two craftsmen who know what they’re talking about.
The menu features seasonal selections and sourced products that inspire their creations. Examples include Pistou-style minestrone soup, goat’s curd with fresh herbs, poultry fricassee with seasonal mushrooms and rice pilaf, beef tripe confit with local ham…
The wine list is extensive, with a good selection available by the glass or 45 cl bottle (around €25).
We start with a simple country terrine, pickled onions and guindillas. The recipe is not greasy. The flavors are a mix of beef and poultry, enhanced by foie gras. We appreciate the excellent bread from the Poujauran bakery, served warm. A real treat.
We continue with the chicken fricassee with seasonal mushrooms and rice pilaf. Served generously. The mushrooms are very fresh, and the sauce is slightly sweet. Excellent rice pilaf.
And we can’t resist the platter of pastries that didn’t go unnoticed. By the way, you can also think of Les Artizans as a tearoom and treat yourself to some quality afternoon tea.
Having been a victim of Baba au Rhum addiction since early childhood, I had to discover this one from Les Artizans. A spoonful of delicate vanilla custard lies beneath its Chantilly cap. The brioche is firm, the syrup is amber and it’s all very fresh. Well done! This is my 5/5 for the meal.
The restaurant Les Artizans confirms its reputation for traditional cuisine revisited in good style. The products are good and fresh, and above all, the pastry menu is of a very high standard. Service is pleasant and competent. It’s open every day, just 10 minutes from the Relais du Louvre. What more could you ask for?
