Les artizans: Bistro chic and shock cakes

Rue Montorgueil is full of food shops, bars, and restaurants. We had already devoted an article to it, stopping in particular, on the pastry Stohrer (read our article). This typical scenic pedestrian street is nice to visit and offers in the summer many attractive terraces. But beware, it is a journey fraught with pitfalls. Read the comments left on TripAdvisor, there are indeed few places actually doing unanimously.

Here’s one that deserves to receive some interest. The restaurant Les Artizans, a 10 minute walk from the Relais du Louvre is an establishment where you can appreciate the originality of its concept, the quality of its products, and the approval of its decor.

The restaurant, open daily from 12:00 to 11:00 p.m., will meet your needs, be it a late breakfast, lunch, a gourmand snack, an aperitif, or a dinner, even a nightcap.

In mid-vintage, mid-industrial atmosphere, the space is a nod to revisited tradition.

The restaurant is run by two experts: the pastry chef Mathieu Mandard (Georges V, Café Pushkin) and Chef Patrick Channel (La Tour d’Argent, Le Bristol, Maison Prunier).

The Artizans is a restaurant where cooking and baking meet in perfect harmony, in a gastro bar treatment where gastronomy codes are revisited for simplicity and authenticity. The dishes are not individually prepared but served in a casserole or skillet copper for the whole table. It is generous, healthy, and unpretentious French food that respects local produce, in season.

“The meat is matured, the juice is made at the same time” they tell me. The tenderness of meat comes when it is sufficiently stale, too fresh meat is tough. Here’s why the management of maturation imposes the choice of a good butcher such as the butcher shop Les Viandes du Champs de Mars to whom provides Les Artizans. Finally, sauce bases such as veal stock, take time to prepare, and it is also thanks to the quality of a sauce that we can appreciate a good meat.

The products are from short circuits and are mainly small producers or trader friends of our two chefs.

On the pastry side, everything is done on site in the morning in the laboratory upstairs. The fruits are in season (currently apple, tangerine, and lemon), the chocolate comes from la chocolaterie de l’opéra, the tea comes from LØv Organic

In the background, a very beautiful interpretation of the Paris Brest. In the foreground, a sublime tangerine pie and a lemon tart.

Finally, on the budget side, it is quite affordable for the services delivered: entrées are at 12€ and dishes at 23€. Thank you Les Artizans !
