Sense.eat is an Italian restaurant and boasts both epicurean and vegetarian cooking. What does that mean? To understand, we must go back to the origin of this restaurant.
After a career in the financial world, Enrico Einaudi, founder of the restaurant, began his second life: he gradually became vegetarian, took cooking classes, turned to yoga and meditation, and met chef Maurizio Carlucci, an Italian like him, who liked Einaudi’s plan: to offer both a healthy and epicurean cuisine, with Italian influences.
Maurizio Carlucci, a native of the city of Barri, has excellent references: Don Alfonso, 3 Michelin stars in Sorrento, the Carlton in Amsterdam, Il Carpaccio, the starred Italian restaurant of the Royal Monceau. “I am a cheerful person, always in a good mood and positive. My creations are in my image; colorful and peppy ” he said. This southern Italian places all the colors of his country, literally and figuratively, in his cooking.
If like me you love Italian food, you will enjoy good products and here, they aren’t lacking:
This list is a bit long but reflects the honesty and sincerity of the concept: Products that are ” good, clean, and fair “.
The menu offers a nice selection of entries that are original, popular, and tasty, priced from 14€ to 16€. For example, a mountain hay smoked Ricotta, onion ice cream, puffed quinoa and almonds, or a fine Italian black chickpea soup with herbs, mushrooms and mini leeks coated with kadaïf paste. This is a real discovery and a different type of cuisine.
The price of the dishes ranges between 16€ and 21€ including a great Risotto with saffron, diced pumpkin, and mustard candied fruit with amaretto powder (21€) and Tofu in quinoa crust, Marsala stewed pickled leeks with mushroom (18€).
The restaurant has two rooms on the ground floor and a room in the basement. It is sober, rather Zen, and slightly “natural.”
In summary, a great place to enjoy creative and sophisticated vegetarian Italian cuisine at still reasonable prices. It is a 10-minute walk from the Relais du Louvre.
